ALEXIS PAVLANTOS
Alexis Pavlantos was born in the mineral heartlands of Tijeras, New Mexico. The daughter of a gemologist and goldsmith, she grew up immersed in jewelry and rock culture. Evoking the rock formations of her home in her own work, her textured and tactile objects often give the impression they were unearthed. Alexis also draws inspiration from nature and her Greek heritage, conjuring Greek Orthodox icons and their gold mosaic patterns and ancient-feeling colors. Holding a BFA in Sculpture, Alexis combines her two worlds by creating kinetic pieces that collaborate with the human body as wearable art. She makes all her jewelry by hand in Albuquerque, NM and Athens, Greece.
